Three different ways to make an account on HashPack
February 15, 2023
HashPack caters to all types of users. Whether you're a seasoned Web3 pro or just starting out, HashPack has you covered. There are three different ways to make an account on HashPack:
1. Email signup
When you log in to HashPack and create or import an account, you'll notice a new screen. Simply enter your email address, then verify the Magic Link, and HashPack will create a brand new Hedera account secured by your email.
Using this method the private key is securely stored on AWS key management hardware using magic.link, only accessible by you via logging in with your email. 2FA is available and recommended for this option. There is no seed phrase provided and is recommended for non technical users. It's secure and more documentation on the built in security can be found on the magic.link website.
And yes, it's supposed to feel easy! We really worked hard to make the experience as seamless and straightforward as possible while still being secure.

2. Advanced wallet creation
This is the standard "crypto" method of creating an account. A 24-word recovery phrase is provided, which must be securely kept by the user.
This method is recommended for advanced users and users who want complete custody of their keys. HashPack is a self-custodial wallet, which means that you are in control of your account information. Your data remains securely encrypted on your device and is never transmitted over the internet or stored on a server.

3. Ledger hardware wallet assisted creation
With HashPack you can create a new account or access an existing account on your Ledger in a few easy steps. HashPack integrates seamlessly and securely with your Ledger like no other wallet out there.
This account uses the Ledger hardware wallet as the cold wallet for the account. No recovery phrase is provided because the hardware wallet secures the key. Please note, never enter the recovery phrase provided by Ledger into anything except a Ledger hardware wallet.
